
Born in Milan in 1972, into a family of musician, Giampaolo Maria Bisanti started studying clarinet, piano, composition, conducting and opera conducting at the Music Conservatory “G. Verdi of Milan” very early. In the years that followed, he continued his education at the “Accademia Musicale Internazionale” in Pescara and attended some important master classes in conducting: with Maestro Donato Renzetti in Milan and Maestro Benjamin Zander invited by the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. He always graduated with full marks.
He also started conducting at important venues at a very young age, performing both in Italy and abroad.
At the age of 24 he made his official debut in Milan conducting the opera “La lettera anonima” by G. Donizetti at the Teatro Litta within Teatro alla Scala 1996-97 Opera Season. In the course of the following years he performed several times “Don Pasquale” by Donizetti, “La Cenerentola” by Rossini, “La Boheme” by Puccini and “L’amico Fritz” by Mascagni.
In 1998 Giampolo Bisanti was awarded the Second Prize (1st not awarded) at the “Dimitris Mitropoulus International Competition for Conducting” in Athens, chairman Sir Neville Marriner. In 1999 he won the First Prize at the “Franco Capuana International Competition” in Rom and the 5th Prize and Special Prize of the Jury at the 2002 “J. Ferencsik Competition” in Budapest. He also has been awarded many times in Italy (1998 and 2002), especially for his opera performances always acclaimed by audience and critics.
After studying under the supervision of the great Russian Maestro Juri Ahronovitch at the prestigious “Accademia Chigiana” in Siena, where he was awarded the Diploma of Honour, he took up his international career performing more than 300 symphonic concerts (including concerts for soloists and orchestra and contemporary music) and 20 operas in the main concert halls and opera houses all over Italy, Japan, Greece, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Albania and South America: Megaron Concert Hall in Athens, Alti Hall in Kyoto, Teatro Comunale Ferrara, Ferenc Liszt Academy Hall and Millenaris Theatre of Budapest, Tonhalle of Zurich, Teatro Ponchielli of Cremona, Teatro Fraschini of Pavia, Teatro Sociale of Como, Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo, Teatro Grande of Brescia, Teatri Nuovo and Caio Melisso of Spoleto, Teatro Verdi of Padova, Palais de l’Europe of Menton, Musikhalle and St. Jakobs Park of Basel, Teatro Nacional Sucre of Quito, Sala Grande del Conservatorio of Milan, Teatro Morlacchi in Perugia, Lyrick Theatre of Assisi, Teatro degli Industri of Grosseto, Teatro dei Rinnovati and Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena, Teatro Cavour in Imperia, Teatro della Triennale and Litta in Milano, Teatro Comunale and Eden in Treviso, Teatro Coccia in Novara, Teatro Sociale of Rovigo.
Giampaolo Bisanti has also worked with many famous orchestras, including the Basel Sinfonieorchester, the Kyoto Festival Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia Festival Orchestra, the Mozart Milano Orchestra (principal conductor from 1995 to 2001), the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest-Radio TV and Matav Orchestra, the Danubia Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Orchestra of Coulours, the Concerto Boswil, the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil del Ecuador, Orchestra “I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano”, Orchestra Milano Classica, Orchestra Sinfonica di Ferrara, Orchestra Teatro Lirico di Spoleto, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta “G.F. Malipiero”, Orchestra “G. Cantelli” di Milano, I Solisti del Teatro Alla Scala and has collaborated with world wide known musicians and singers like K. Ricciarelli, M. Pertusi, R Canzian, I. Salazar, D.Abbado, P.Villegar, U.Santicchi, I.Stefanutti, S.Vizioli, S.Krylov, F. Meloni, S. Milenkovic, A.Pay, R.Vernizzi, V.Kholodenko, A.Bacchetti, R.Bieri, A.Meunier, F.Sartori.
Following the success of his performances, he was invited to become the Luciano’Berio’s assistant for the 2001 “L’Arte della Fuga” European Project, the Spoleto Opera House Artistic Directors’ assistant and principal conductor; in 2003 Guest Conductor for the Aida Production in Basel organized by Companions Opera Amsterdam. Afterwards he made important debuts with the Orchestra Regionale Toscana in Florence, at the Boswiler Sommer Festival 2004, at Tonhalle Zürich and Basel Opera House performing the complete Cjakovskij’s Nutcracker score with the Ballett Basel and Basel Sinfionieorchester. In 2004 he was elected Principal Conductor and, after one year, Artistic Director of the Filarmonia Veneta Orchestra “G. F. Malipiero” by the Treviso Opera House with which he performed operas as Madama Butterfly, Oberto Conte di San Bonifacio, Otello, Barbiere di Siviglia, Traviata, Nabucco, Cavalleria Risticana and Pagliacci.
Recently he recorded a Cd with the soloists of the Milano Teatro alla Scala.
